STARKVILLE, Miss.âTheatre ļāļāÖą˛Ĩ continues its 52nd season Wednesday-Saturday [Feb. 24-27] at 7:30 p.m. with âThe Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]â on the universityâs McComas Hall mainstage.
The riotous comedy parodying all 37 of the English poet, playwright and actorâs (1564-1616) plays was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield of the touring acting troupe, the Reduced Shakespeare Company.
âThe âComplete Worksâ is all over the map in the parodiesâfrom turning the history plays into a football game to turning a dark and brooding tragedy into a cooking show,â said director and ļāļāÖą˛Ĩ assistant professor and theatre coordinator Cody Stockstill. âWith something for everyone, this production is sure to be a fun ride.â
Featuring all of the characters but only three actors, the ļāļāÖą˛Ĩ production is being held in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeareâs death. Often referred to as Englandâs national poet, he is widely considered the greatest dramatist of all time.
General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the door prior to the performance or in advance at .
The department also will present âRodgers and Hammersteinâs âOKLAHOMA!â at McComas Hall this season. Free to all, the show will be performed April 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. and April 24 at 2 p.m.
