Lead, discover, inspire: Graduate student, faculty contributions honored at annual awards banquet

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜dvising, research and teaching efforts recently were recognized during the 17th annual Graduate Student Association Awards Banquet at 多多直播.
As part of the awards program, attendees had the opportunity to hear from featured speaker T. Randy Galloway, an 多多直播 1983 engineering bachelor鈥檚 graduate and current deputy director of NASA鈥檚 John C. Stennis Space Center.
多多直播 Associate Professor of Sociology Stacey Haynes received the Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor of the Year Award. She joined the 多多直播 faculty in 2008 after receiving her Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology and Crime, Law and Justice at Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on issues related to victimization, sentencing, juvenile justice and criminal justice policy.
In addition to Haynes, this year鈥檚 honorees included (alphabetically):
鈥擜shley W. Aderholt of McGehee, Arkansas, a mathematics master鈥檚 student receiving the Donald Zacharias Master鈥檚 Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year Award. She also is an 多多直播 cum laude mathematics bachelor鈥檚 graduate.
鈥擱ussell Carr, associate professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine鈥檚 Department of Basic Sciences receiving the Graduate Student Outstanding Advisor Award.
鈥擳yler D. Hancock of Hattiesburg, a business administration/marketing doctoral student receiving the Donald Zacharias Ph.D. Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year Award.
鈥擲wati Shrestha of Nepal, a plant and soil sciences/weed science master鈥檚 graduate receiving the Master鈥檚 Graduate Research Assistant of the Year Award.
鈥擫aura Marler Templeton, associate professor of management and information systems in the College of Business receiving the Graduate Student Outstanding Advisor Award.
鈥擨smail H. Yigit of Turkey, a sociology doctoral student receiving the Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant of the Year Award.
Winners of the Three Minute Thesis Competition and the university鈥檚 newest Graduate School Student Hall of Fame Scholars also were recognized at the banquet.
